English song - Alan Walker

Alan Walker - Faded

Alan Walker - Sing Me To Sleep

Faded
You were the shadow to my light
Did you feel us
Another Start
You fade away
Afraid our aim is out of sight
Wanna see us
Alive

Where are you now
Where are you now
Where are you now
Was it all in my fantasy
Where are you now
Were you only imaginary
Where are you now

Atlantis
Under the sea
Under the sea
Where are you now
Another dream
The monsters running wild inside of me

I'm faded
I'm faded
So lost
I'm faded
I'm faded
So lost
I'm faded

These shallow waters, never met
What i needed
I'm letting go
A deeper dive
Eternal silence of the sea
I'm breathing
Alive

Where are you now
Where are you now

Under the bright
But faded lights
You set my heart on fire
Where are you now
Where are you now

Where are you now
Atlantis Under the sea
Under the sea
Where are you now
Another dream
The monsters running wild inside of me

I'm faded
I'm faded
So lost
I'm faded
I'm faded
So lost
I'm faded.

Sing Me To Sleep
Wait a second, let me catch my breath
Remind me how it feels to hear your voice
Your lips are movin', I can't hear a thing
Livin' life as if we had a choice
Anywhere, any time
I would do anything for you
Anything for you
Yesterday got away
Melody stuck inside your head
A song in every breath

Sing me to sleep now
Sing me to sleep
So sing me to sleep now
Sing me to sleep

Remember me, no time cannot erase
I can hear your whispers in my mind
I've become what you cannot embrace
Our memory will be my lullaby

Sing me to sleep now
Sing me to sleep
Won't you sing me to sleep now?
Sing me to sleep

A-anytime
I would do
Time away
Yesterday-day
A-anytime
I would do
Time away
Yesterday-day

Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish.  常保飢渴求知,常存虛懷若愚。

How do you like his 3 life stories?
Yes, I like his 3 life stories.

Can you relate them to any of your life experiences?
or Does it inspire you in any way?
connecting the dots:
I believe the dots will somehow connect in future. Learning computer also requires design aesthetics, and we can find lots of inspiration in life. When you design, intuition will lead you and connect the dots together. Sometimes, you don't know what's the point of the things that you usually learn, but someday it will be very useful when it is needed.

love and loss:
I like this sentence and the meaning of the story is like:"Troubles came into the world, but we must not forget that Hope came with them."
In my high school, I attended a public high school and transferred to a private school two years. I have to retake another year of Senior High 3 because of my transfer and my same-age friends were all graduated earlier than I am, but because of my transfer that I learned a lot of computer skills and also took lots of certificates.

death:
Steve Jobs read a quote that went something like: "If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you'll most certainly be right."
I think just like me, a lot of people might not know how to face death, so we can learn from Steve Jobs' attitude: "asked myself: If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today? And whenever the answer has been No for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something."

To pay tribute to Steve Jobs. Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish.

#5 English song

Something Wild - Lindsey Stirling ft. Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness (From Disney's Pete's Dragon)

Lyrics
[Verse 1]
You had your maps drawn
You had other plans
To hang your hopes on
Every road they let you down felt so wrong
So you found another way

You've got a big heart
The way you see the world
It got you this far
You might have some bruises
And a few of scars
But you know you're gonna be okay

[Pre-Chorus]
Even though you're scared
You're stronger than you know

[Chorus]
If you're lost out where the lights are blinding
Caught in all, the stars are hiding
That's when something wild calls you home, home
If you face the fear that keeps you frozen
Chase the sky into the ocean
That's when something wild calls you home, home

[Verse 2]
Sometimes the past can
Make the ground beneath you feel like a quicksand
You don't have to worry
You reach for my hand
And I know you're gonna be okay
You're gonna be okay

[Pre-Chorus]
Even though you're scared
You're stronger than you know

[Chorus]
If you're lost out where the lights are blinding
Caught in all, the stars are hiding
That's when something wild calls you home, home
If you face the fear that keeps you frozen
Chase the sky into the ocean
That's when something wild calls you home, home

[Bridge]
Calls you home
Calls you home
Calls you home
Calls you home

If you're lost out where the lights are blinding
Caught in all, the stars are hiding
That's when something wild calls you home...

[Chorus]
If you're lost out where the lights are blinding
Caught in all, the stars are hiding
That's when something wild calls you home, home
If you face the fear that keeps you frozen
Chase the sky into the ocean
That's when something wild calls you home, home

Lindsey Stirling: Santa Ana, California, United States. Lindsey Stirling (born September 21, 1986) is an American violinist, dancer, performance artist, and composer. Stirling performs a variety of music styles, from classical to pop and rock to electronic dance music.  (From wikipedia)

He was the vocalist, pianist and primary lyricist for the bands Something Corporate and main songwriter for Jack's Mannequin and performs solo both under his own name as well as moniker Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness.  (From wikipedia)

Three words learned
1.wild (adjective)living or growing in natural conditions; not kept in a house or on a farm - The plants grow wild along the banks of rivers.
2.bruise (noun): a blue, brown or purple mark that appears on the skin after somebody has fallen, been hit, etc. I ' m okay ; just a few cuts and bruises
3.beneath (adverb): in or to a lower position than somebody/something - Her careful make-up hid the signs of age beneath.

Why I like the song?
Lindsey Stirling is my favorite musician. She dances and plays violin at the same time, and it looks cool to me. Stirling performs a variety of music styles, from classical to pop and rock to electronic dance music. She let us know that violin can also perform rock songs.
Lindsey Stirling collaborated with Andrew McMahon for her new record and the movie Disney's Pete's Dragon. While Andrew McMahon has a great passion for singing and playing piano, Lindsey Stirling is also a very talented violinist.
In the video, the two children met and play treasure hunt together. They are both very happy and immersed in fantasy during the process of treasure hunting. In the end, the boy painted a painting and gave it to the girl to commemorate their journey. Growing up, the girl took out the painting that the boy gave her and she missed him. Watching this video makes me feel touched. The lyrics of the song is also encouraging.
If you like Lindsey Stirling just like I do, you can look down more of her songs in the previous article on my blog. You'll see a few of her songs from her new album "Brave Enough". I briefly introduce different genres of Lindsey Stirling's songs below.

#4 Six Minute English

Are we there yet?

This week, the episode that I listened to is "Are we there yet?" and it is talking about time. I think this subject is interesting. This episode discussed why some weeks just fly by but sometimes minutes seem like hours? and why do we perceive time differently in different circumstances?

According to a new study, smaller animals perceive time as if it is passing in slow motion. Small animals such as insects and small birds can observe more detail in a certain period of time – for example, a second – than larger animals. It helps them by giving them time to escape larger predators.
I didn't know before that animals and humans have different perception of time. Animals don't get bored doing nothing all day.

It's a strange trick of memory that in a scary situation your brain starts to record everything in great detail. And the more memory you have of an event, the longer you believe it took. This idea explains why children often feel that time is passing slowly – because their experiences are new, and they are creating lots of new memories.
When humans are in danger, our brain will think about how to escape the danger.

If you can spend your weekend filling it with loads of new different activities, it'll go fast, at the time, because you're having fun. But when you look back, say, on Sunday night, and you've got to go to work next day, it will feel as if your weekend was long, because you filled it with new memories.
Just like how you feel time passes slowly when you are in a boring lesson, you will also feel that time passes too quickly when you are in an interesting lesson.

So, this weekend, what are you thinking about? Definitely. Think about creating loads of new memories.

#3 ESLPod.Com

It is difficult for me to be able to listen and understand the dialogues, but firstly, I try to look up the words that I do not understand, then I listen to the dialogues once again.
The dialogues in ESL Podcast are spoken very slowly, so it is suitable for beginners. Listen to the dialogues several times and you'll get used to it.
I think ESL Podcast is a tool that is suitable for me to learn English, and it will also help me to improve my listening skill.
